The Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation Publication

In August this year, Frontline Fife received thanks from the Scottish Government for the contribution made to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD), published in 2016 by the Housing and Social Justice Directorate, Scottish Government.

We were asked to provide a case study to this publication and here is an excerpt from the letter we received from the Directorate:

Your contribution helped us bring a real-life perspective to our data so that when we published these high profile statistics we could provide a balanced perspective.  This helped us go some way to reducing the stigma associated with living in a deprived area.

I wanted to let you know that the SIMD team recently won the prestigious Royal Statistical Society 2017 Excellence in Official Statistics Award.  The judging panel commended the publication for "clever use of case studies to build public trust", with one panel member commenting that they added a "dose of real life".

.....With your help it has been easier for the team to bring to life the positive and negative reality of what living in a deprived area is like
