Melanie House—24 Hr Direct Access Hostel

Melanie House is a 24 hour direct access hostel in Kennoway.  The accommodation is made up of 7 shared flats for 17 people.  The hostel is open to both males and females of any age and regardless of their homeless priority.

Whilst in Melanie House our Support Workers will provide practical and emotional help and support and also assist to find temporary or permanent accommodation.

Our focus is to ensure that, wherever possible, residents are quickly moved on to more appropriate temporary or permanent accommodation.  By reducing the average length of stay to 28 days, we are actively preventing bed

blocking and ensure emergency accommodation is available.

How to Refer

Referrals can be made through Emergency Accommodation Services, 24 hours a day on 0800 0286231.

Temporary Supported Scatter Flats

We have over 19 properties located in Cupar, Methil, Buckhaven and Lochgelly.  These properties are mainly for 32 people coming from a hostel environment into a temporary tenancy.

Our Support Workers can ensure that tenants have access to a wide network of resources which best meet their needs.  A support plan for each individual will be drawn up and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that tenants are fully involved.

Our Scatter flats offer a much needed service for people to help them stabilize their situation.  With the right support and assistance from our Support Workers, we offer people the chance to successfully manage their own tenancy when the opportunity arises.

During 2006/07, 27 or our tenants moved on to their own tenancies in Fife Council, Fife Housing and Kingdom Housing as a direct result of the support provided by the Temporary Supported Scatter Flat Team.

How to Refer

There are certain criteria which must be met in order to be eligible for our Temporary Scatter Flats.  Referrals can be made by the individual or an agency directly to the Scatter Flat Team on 01592 654270.

Throughcare Support

Our Throughcare Support Team work with young people who have previously been looked after in care.  We help them manage their tenancy and offer support to enable them to adapt to a life out of care.

We work in partnership with Social Work Throughcare Service to provide housing management and support in 14 properties across Fife.

This target group is extremely challenging and complex.

Individual support packages involve detailed planning and risk assessment.  In some cases, where there is an assessed need involved, we can work with individuals on a daily basis.

How to Refer

Referrals for our Throughcare Service are made from the Throughcare Social Work Team.
